Why subscribe to Table for Two?

Table for Two writes about dining as culture.

Restaurants are where food, fashion, art, craft and taste collide, and I write about London through its dining rooms. Not just where to eat, but why a place matters, who’s behind it, and what it says about the city right now.

There’s no shortage of advice on where to eat in London. Table for Two is for people who want to know more than whether the food was good.

If you’re curious about restaurants and culture, and want to keep developing your own taste, I think you’ll like it here.

A look behind the dining room.

Through relationships with people across the restaurant industry, I’m able to bring readers into conversations they wouldn’t ordinarily have access to: with the people who inspect restaurants, design them, run them and shape the experiences we rarely think about as diners.

That access is paired with a point of view. I’m not interested in covering everything that opens in London or telling you where everyone else is already eating. Each Friday, I choose one story I think is worth your attention and go deeper.

The result is a different way of looking at restaurants: not simply as places to eat, but as a way into the culture around them.

What you’ll find in Table for Two:

Table Talk
Conversations with people who shape how we eat and think about restaurants: chefs, Michelin inspectors, and the people shaping how a restaurant looks, sounds and feels.

On Dining
Ambitious essays that use restaurants to examine culture and taste. This is where food writing becomes an argument about something bigger.

The Case For
Recommendations organised around an argument, not a ranking. I make the case for why a place deserves your evening.

After Dinner
Once a month, what’s worth eating, reading, seeing and knowing.

I’ll also be running shorter, sharper pieces between these: honest reviews of new openings, rituals and objects that define how we eat, and guides to ordering the parts of a menu everyone’s too embarrassed to ask about.

If you’re curious about restaurants and culture, and want to keep developing your own taste, I think you’ll like it here.
