It’s Saturday night. Outside, London is doing what London does, it’s loud, relentless and, everyone has somewhere to be. You push open a door, and the city falls away, the lighting drops, the noise softens, and something smells incredible.
I’ve spent my entire adult life in love with dining. Not just food but the whole experience of being in a restaurant.
The way a great chef immerses you before a single plate hits the table, every detail considered, from the ambience of the lighting, to the interiors, to the kind of ceramics you find yourself turning over to check the maker. These details are the ultimate amuse-bouche to the meal you’re about to have.
One of my favorite feelings in the world is sitting across from my husband, taking the first bite of an exceptional starter, and looking up at each other like…. oh my god, we’re in for a good night.
Food is one of the best ways to connect with people. And doing it in beautiful places, with great company and a perfectly made martini, is my dream night.
My group of girlfriends and I have monthly dinners together and we are, without fail, chronically the last table sat. It doesn’t matter if we book the early 7pm or the late 9pm, we will always be the ones the staff are politely (and then not so politely) hovering around at the end of the night.
The best memories I have with my favourite people almost always centre around a restaurant table. I’ve had friends share pregnancies, debriefs on engagement stories, updates on the juiciest gossip, and nights that get progressively more giggly after the 1st, 2nd… 3rd… martini.
I’ve lived in London for eight years and spent that time experiencing this city through its restaurants. The edgy and experimental in Soho, the traditional British pubs in Fulham, Michelin dining in Mayfair, and a perfect casual pizza in Notting Hill. London feeds you in every sense of the word, and I look for restaurants that deliver not just the food but the whole experience.
That’s why I started Table for Two. A highly edited London dining guide, for people with taste, not just appetite. Every recommendation earns its place. No lists for the sake of lists, no PR noise, no places that didn’t genuinely move me. If Sexy Fish is your taste then this isn’t the Substack for you!
And yes... it’s called Table for Two. But let’s be honest. Sometimes it’s a table for three. Or four. Or seven.
Every recommendation you get here is somewhere you’ll want to return to again and again.
What to expect: restaurant reviews, occasion edits, London’s best of a dish, and the occasional “skip the queue… try this instead.”
